Unique contract opportunity launched on Tideway project
Tideway, the company building London’s new super sewer, has launched a unique contract opportunity to find a partner to maintain critical operational components of the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
With nearly 90% of the construction work complete, Tideway is entering a new and important phase in which the tunnel will become operational – and the hard work of the past eight years begins to provide environmental benefits to the River Thames.
Through this period, Tideway is seeking a partner to undertake thousands of key maintenance activities across 21 construction sites for a period of up to 10 years (through novation), representing an estimated annual spend of around £7m.
Both the scope and scale of this work combined with the opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most important environmental projects represents a significant commercial opportunity to the market.
Furthermore, the successful provider will operate within Tideway’s extensive stakeholder landscape and have an opportunity to become an important and trusted provider within the water sector.
Tideway is looking for a provider to deliver planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance services across the capital in accordance with maintenance plans for the ‘System Acceptance Period’ and possibly beyond.
These assets include a range of elements, such as near-surface civils; MEICA equipment; building services; safety restraints and maintenance access hardware.
Deep civil elements – the main tunnel, connection tunnels and shafts, for example – are outside of the scope of this contract, along with the SCADA system and architecture and landscape
