Two new charity partnerships for Super Sewer project: The Felix Project and Time & Talents

Tideway, the company building London’s super sewer, has recently teamed up with two charities to support through a corporate-charity partnership to the end of 2024.

The Felix Project and Time & Talents both topped a staff poll and will now benefit from staff fundraising and volunteering, corporate backing and other support.

The Felix Project, based across London, collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold and delivers this surplus to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.

And Time & Talents is a community organisation supporting the young and old in and around Rotherhithe, Bermondsey and Surrey Quays with its two community centres bringing people together for mutual support, fun and friendship.

Will Savage, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the Felix Project, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Tideway for the next two years. People across London face an increasingly challenging time as the cost-of-living crisis takes hold which means there is an increasing demand on our services.

“With support of amazing organisations, like Tideway, we know we can make a huge difference to so many lives and achieve our vision of a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.”

The project operates at a number of locations across London which offer volunteering opportunities, including delivering food packages in central London by foot or on a bike.

Sarah Gibb, CEO at Time & Talents, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Tideway staff as a charity partner. As a small local charity embedded in the Rotherhithe and Bermondsey community that supports vulnerable adults and children and families living in poverty, we are needed more than ever, and your support is vital to our work.

“We have already been blown away by the generosity shown at Christmas with the fantastic presents that were donated and by the energy and enthusiasm of Tideway volunteers running social contact groups and kicking off the build of our new community garden. We were very grateful for being awarded a community energy grant too. Thank you from everyone at Time & Talents. We are so excited about working with Tideway people over the next two years.”

Tideway's previous staff charity partners were South London Cares (supporting older people in Southwark and Lambeth), Single Homeless Project (helping homeless people across the capital) and Drive Forward Foundation (helping young care leavers to get support and employment) and in five years more than £135,000 was donated and more than 1,400 hours volunteered for them.

The project has also run a series of community investment partnerships to support its vision to reconnect Londoners with the River Thames and support people close to our sites - you can see more info on the Our Community page of our website.
