Volunteers get to know elderly residents in Putney
Tideway volunteers have continued to offer their time to help the charity Regenerate RISE (reaching the isolated elderly) in Putney.
RISE provides a safe place for local elderly residents to meet, interact and have lunch together.
Staff from the charity also take the residents on outings and conduct home visits to ensure the locals are provided with a sense of community.
And a team of volunteers from Tideway’s site along Putney Embankment have been regularly visitng the centre, helping with the lunchtime rush and catching up with the residents over a cup of tea.
The residents are now on first-name terms with the majority of the team and look forward to seeing them each Monday and Wednesday.
Volunteering at this centre has been a hugely rewarding experience for both the elderly locals and the site team, while the residents are always eager to hear about the Tideway project’s progress.
Centre Manager, Julia Przetakiewicz, said: “Many thanks for your continued support. Our guests love seeing your team every week and the work you’re doing has had a really positive impact on the centre. It really does make such a difference.”
