Deptford Church Street

Shaft excavation is now over 80% complete at 40 metres deep. This means we are now excavating chalk, which we reached at 27 metres.

Excavation consists of digging and removing material using excavators until we get to a depth of 50 metres.

What are our working hours?

Standard working hours are 8am to 6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm Saturday.  Also, there is a 1 hour mobilisation period before and after the Standard Working Hours, plus maintenance periods on Saturday 1-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm.

Extended working hours may be required for the main works to allow major concrete pours for shaft construction. This will not be until late 2017/early 2018.

  • Equipment and operations will be located away from sensitive receptors

  • The site will be returned to public use as soon as practicable, including potential phasing, allowing partial use

  • A 3.6m high hoarding will be erected on the site boundaries

  • No scheduled lorry movements will take place between 8:30 to 9:15 and 15:00 and 15:45 during school term time

  • All concrete used will be delivered pre-mixed

  • Access/egress into Coffey St will be maintained at all times unless otherwise agreed

  • Vehicle movements outside of standard hours will be restricted

  • On-street parking bays will be introduced along Crossfield St (to as far as Coffey St)

  • Pedestrian and vehicular access to St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School via Crossfield St will be maintained at all times; a segregated pedestrian route to the school will be provided

Submissions to the Council 
Our works will be undertaken with the same controls identified in the Development Consent Order and Code of Construction Practice. We will notify anyone living near the site in advance of any works taking place. We are making a number of submissions to the London Borough of Lewisham as part of the consents we need to secure before starting different phases of work at the Deptford Church Street site.
