Site information

This site is being used to connect the existing local combined sewer overflow (CSO) to the main tunnel. It is also used to drive a long connection tunnel southwards to King George’s Park and northwards to Carnwath Road Riverside, to connect the CSOs at Dormay Street and King George’s Park to the main tunnel. This connection tunnel is known as the Frogmore connection tunnel.

Dormay Street

Following a pause as part of our response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have resumed some works at our Dormay Street site. We have introduced several additional precautions so that our team can do this work safely to continue building the super sewer.

Charlotte, our Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), began her journey towards King George's Park in early 2019 and arrived to site in later that year. You can read about the recent break through here.

Earlier this year, Charlotte was lifted up from the King George’s Park shaft and driven back to Dormay Street. She is now continuing to complete the construction of the Frogmore connection tunnel towards our main drive site at Carnwath Road Riverside, where she is due to arrive in Spring 2020.

You can read more about Charlotte's lift and journey from our King George's Park site to Dormay Street here.
