Heathwall Pumping Station (Nine Elms, Wandsworth)

Heathwall Pumping Station (Nine Elms, Wandsworth)

DCO Heathwall Pumping Station above ground 1024x724

Heathwall Pumping Station is an existing Thames Water site. The site includes the existing pumping station and Middle Wharf. The site intercepts the Heathwall Pumping Station and the South West Storm Relief combined sewer overflows.

What are we doing at Heathwall?

Thames Water and Tideway have completed works to upgrade the existing water and gas mains under Nine Elms Lane. This work was vital to prepare the essential utilities for our main works construction in the coming months.

We have begun our main works construction at Heathwall pumping station. We will soon begin works such as site clearance, sewer outfall diversions, investigative boreholes and preparation for the construction of the main shaft.

There will be 24-hour working during the construction of the Heathwall/South West Storm Relief connection tunnel

Loading of barges and barge movements would take place within standard hours

How are we using the river?

We have committed to using river transport as much as possible to reduce the number of heavy goods vehicles on the roads.

For Heathwall Pumping Station we anticipate an average of two barges will access the site per day, with each barge taking approximately 20 heavy goods vehicles off the road.

We are working through plans to ensure that the number of Heavy Goods Vehicles delivering materials and removing spoil is as few as possible.
