This policy (together with our terms of use and any other documents referred to in it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. We may collect personal information from you in the course of our business, including through your use of our website, when you contact or request information from us, when you engage with us or as a result of your relationship with one or more of our workers.

How we obtain your personal information

If you contact us, we will use your personal information as necessary:

  • to look into and respond to your query, complaint or request or processing any complaints or applications under our compensation policies,

  • to maintain the book of reference of those with relevant interests in the land affected by the Thames Tideway Tunnel (“Tideway Project”) (and to keep it up to date)

  • for the purposes of serving any notices which may be required to be served in connection with the Tideway Project.

Registering to receive updates

We release updates on the Tideway Project and related matters from time to time. You may register to receive these updates directly by email or when in contact with us. By providing your contact details, including your email address, you are expressly consenting to receiving these updates. You can opt-out of receiving updates at any time by  emailing the “Unsubscribe” email address provided in our emails, or you can opt-out of receiving updates at any time by contacting [email protected]

Applying for a job and employment

We advertise our latest job vacancies on the website and may allow you to submit job applications online. To apply for a job, you may be asked to create an account and provide information we require to assess your application, including your CV, and contact details. We will use the information you provide to assess your suitability for employment, and to contact you as we process your application. At later stages, we will also request additional personal information, including documentary evidence of your right to work in the UK. The purpose of our request will be apparent at the point you provide your personal information and we only use that information for those purposes.

You will have some obligations under your Tideway employment contract to provide Tideway with data. In particular, you are required to report absences from work and may be required to provide information about disciplinary or other matters under the implied duty of good faith. You may also have to provide Tideway with data in order to exercise your statutory rights, such as in relation to statutory leave entitlements. Failing to provide the data may mean that you are unable to exercise your statutory rights.

Certain information, such as contact details, your right to work in the UK and payment details, have to be provided to enable tideway to enter a contract of employment with you. If you do not provide other information, this will hinder Tideway’s ability to administer the rights and obligations arising as a result of the employment relationship efficiently.

Meetings, events and seminars

We will collect and process personal information about you in relation to your attendance at our offices or at an event or seminar organised by Tideway. We will only process and use special categories or personal information about your dietary or access requirements in order to cater for your needs and to meet any other legal or regulatory obligations we may have. We may share your information with IT and other service providers or business partners involved in organising or hosting the relevant event.  

Use of Tideway website

We may make interactive features available on our website to allow you to engage with the Tideway Project. For these features to work, you may be required to provide certain information, including your post code or geolocation.

Visiting our website

When you visit our website we may automatically collect the following information:

  • technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;

  • information about your visit, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our website (including date and time); products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.

How long we keep your information

Your personal information will be retained in accordance with our data retention policy which categorises all of the information held by Tideway and specifies the appropriate retention period for each category of data. The periods are based on the requirements of applicable Data Protection Laws.

We collect your information from you through the website or when you contact us or request information from us and also through the course of business we may have with you . We will only retain your information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which the information is collected and used, taking into legal and regulatory compliance requirements to retain the information for a minimum period, limitation periods for taking legal action, good practice and Tideway’s business purposes.

You may be entitled to request access to information we hold about you, or to request that your information is erased, that its processing is restricted, or that any inaccurate information we hold in relation to you is rectified.
