Barn Elms

Construction work on the super sewer structures at our Barn Elms site is substantially complete. 

You may, however, continue to see some Tideway staff working as we work to bring the super sewer into operation. Our standard working hours are:

• Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm
• Saturday: 8am to 1pm

A security presence will also be maintained on the site.

There may also be occasional periods when we need to close parts of the site while we undertake testing work for the sewer.

During construction our Barn Elms site team committed to managing the works and mitigating any impacts. Examples of the measures we had in place included:

• Hoarding erected along the site boundary

• Netting erected above the hoarding to prevent balls from the playing fields entering the construction site

• Access and construction activities minimised during times of heavy recreational use of the playing fields.

• Various other measures included using electric gantry cranes where practicable and using electric forklifts to reduce noise

• Onsite concrete batchers and static concrete re-mixers screened and not used outside of standard hours

• Concrete breakers not used at night (22:00 to 08:00) except in cases of emergency

• Limits set to control activities, such as noise (Section 61 approval) from London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
