Tideway congratulates former CEO on King's Birthday Honour

Tideway has offered its warm congratulations to former Chief Executive Andy Mitchell CBE after he was awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours.

Sir Andy led the Tideway project from its inception in 2014 through construction and into the successful operation of London's super sewer, one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.

The project was delivered to tackle the millions of tonnes of sewage that historically entered the River Thames each year, helping to create a healthier river for generations to come.

Michael Queen, Chair of Tideway, said: "Everyone at Tideway is delighted to see Andy recognised with a knighthood. This is a fitting tribute to a remarkable career dedicated to delivering major infrastructure that improves people's lives and leaves a lasting legacy.

"Andy combined exceptional leadership with a relentless determination to bring together partners from across government and construction to deliver on Tideway's founding vision of reconnecting London with the River Thames.

"On behalf of the Board and everyone at Tideway, I would like to offer Andy our warmest congratulations on this richly deserved honour."

Andy stepped down as Chief Executive of Tideway in 2025, having led the company for more than a decade and overseen the delivery of the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
